Objective time in brain

The brain uses circadian rhythm, which operates like the creation of a chemical and then its depletion in a continuous loop.

This rhythm is managed primarily by the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), which sits right between the optic nerves, below the hypothalamus.

The human circadian rhythm is not exactly 24 hours.

In fact, humans underestimate time when kept in isolation. People left in isolation estimated time to be 20-30% less than the actual time elapsed.

Rising early or late is also related to genes that govern the circadian rhythm.
